Lockwood Jewelers is committed to working with vendors who obtain their materials and products from environmentally friendly and socially responsible sources.
Also, at Lockwood Jewelers, customers can make the choice to have their old gold melted down and refashioned into beautiful new jewelry pieces.
Re-using gold and buying jewelry manufactured with recycled gold is an eco-friendly and socially responsible choice a consumer can make.
HARMONY METALS AND GEMS
Lockwood Jewelers uses Harmony Metals and Gems by Hoover & Strong, an earth-minded refiner and manufacturer for over 95 years. All precious metals at Hoover & Strong, including gold, platinum, palladium, sterling silver, fine silver, and copper are 100% recycled from the existing metal supply. They do not buy metals from mining companies. As refiners, they do not have to.
When it is necessary to buy metals from other sources, they buy metal from other earth-friendly refineries that use only recycled metal.
Mining is a very "dirty" business, having negative impacts on environments, humans, and animals.
There is enough gold above ground (already mined) to satisfy the needs of the jewelry industry for the next 50 years.
CONFLICT-FREE DIAMONDS
Lockwood Jewelers only purchases conflict-free diamonds from sources that are full participants in the Kimberly Process Certification System. This process, an international monitoring system, was created to eiminate the flow of "conflict diamonds," those smuggled out of war-torn regions by those seeking to finance violence.
